Planet Neurology

PLANET Neuro is a software platform dedicated to molecular imaging series management. It includes a set of tools for the diagnosis of neurological and dementia diseases e.g. Epilepsy, Alzheimer, Dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson diseases. PLANET Neuro is a vendor neutral solution for multimodality image review and analysis.

Diagnostic for Parkinson's disease (DaTscan™: Io"upane 123I)
Differential diagnosis between dementia with Lewy bodies and Alzheimer's disease
Automatised quantification of DaTscan™ uptake:

  • SPECT/CT co-registration on MRI segmentedtemplate
  • Predefined anatomical segmentation on MRI: caudate nuclei, putamen and occipital lobes
  • Report of binding potential: caudate/occipital, putamen/occipital, striatum/occipital etc, which can benefit from partial-volume effect correction

  • PLANET Dementia  e.g. Alzheimer

Diagnosis aid for Alzheimer's disease from SPECT (ECD or HMPAO Tc-99m) exam, tracking hypoperfusion of the tracer

  • Co-registration to a template estimated from selected controls of a similar age
  • Correction of SPECT intensity based on different methods : (i) mean global activity (without background), (ii) proportional scaling, (iii) cerebellum perfusion activity
  • Voxel to voxel Z-score analysis performed using mean and standard deviation of the variability assessed on controls
  • Results displayed in a statistically-measured thresholded map of significant deviation from normality
  • Multiple comparison corrections are available (eg.Bonferroni correction)
