Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) may be easily planned with the ISOgray suite. Sliding window and step-and-shoot IMRT are supported. A full range of user friendly tools are designed for the following steps : time-efficient prescription, optimization of the dose distribution matching closely the prescription, generation of an optimized and realistic MLC sequence ready to be exported. Specific tools for plan verification are also provided.
For some treatments (e.g. breast) simpler aperture based forward planning IMRT (OAPS) may be preferred.
Constraints You select and combine the most relevant constraints with regard to your clinical case: prscribed and minimal target dose, maximal dose and dose-volume constraints to OARs. By acting on weights and priorities one can drive to some extent the solution: e.g. focus on protecting the OARs, maximizing the dose received by the PTV, or privileging the dose uniformity. Optimization ISOgray uses the conjugated gradient method to solve the inverse problem. Widely used in optimization, it allows to reach rapidly and securely the global optimum. Sequencing ISOgray IMRT deals with the physical and mechanical characteristics of most current MLCs : Varian dynamic mode, Elekta and Siemens Step & Shoot, as well as systems equipped with micro-multileaves. Mechanical compensators In order to deliver the prescribed dose to small targets with the greatest accuracy, ISOgray supports also the modulation with physical compensator. It exports to the milling system the exact shape of compensating filters requested for treatment. Quality assurance Precision and safety are a commitment for IMRT. The ISOgray suite includes quality assurance tools that facilitate the experimental verification of dose distributions. Totally integrated into the TPS, they give access to the gamma index distribution and other evaluation tools. These functionalities provide essential quantitative data that facilitate quality checksl and treatment decision. |
